Special Educational Needs at Broadfield Community Primary School

We are a diverse school that is fortunate to welcome children and families from many different backgrounds. We believe that all of our children can reach for the stars and achieve their potential when the school community works and learns together. Learning at Broadfield is fun. We teach a broad and balanced curriculum filled with exciting lessons. We personalise learning so that every child can experience success. We also provide enrichment for all children through a range of educational visits, specialist teaching and we have a vast range of extra-curricular activities on offer. At Broadfield we nurture and support our children so that they can be the best versions of themselves. We know that when children are happy, they can focus on their learning and this is when they can achieve their very best. We have very high expectations of all the children. At Broadfield we believe that every teacher is a teacher of every child, including those with SEND.

Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Mrs. Georgina Melling. She can be contacted by Telephone: 01706 647580 Email: gmelling@broadfield.rochdale.sch.uk

We are committed to providing a fully accessible environment which values and includes all pupils, staff, parents and visitors regardless of their age, education, physical, sensory, social, spiritual, emotional and cultural needs. We are committed to challenging negative attitudes about disability and accessibility, and to developing a culture of awareness, tolerance and inclusion. Please read our Accessibility Plan below.

Our Aim-  At Broadfield Community Primary School, we aim to increase learning, inclusion and participation and minimise exclusion for all learners by overcoming barriers to learning through Quality First Teaching - this is high quality teaching that is differentiated and personalised that meets the needs of the majority of children. All children, including those with SEND, have the right to and have access to an education that is broad, balanced, relevant and creative. We aim to raise the aspirations of and expectations for all pupils with SEND. We provide a focus on outcomes for our children rather than hours of support/provision. Please find attached below our SEND Policy and appendices.
