Year 6 Monitors

Learning, Growing and Succeeding Together is what we do at Broadfield. By the time our children reach their final year in our school we work on preparing them for greater responsibility in readiness for their transition to High School. One of the ways we do this is by offering them the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the wider life of school through monitor roles.

The Y6 monitors apply for their roles based on job descriptions and on selection they have an informal interview based on the skills and knowledge required for their chosen roles. In the case of applications for Head Girl and Head Boy, the children must seek references from members of staff who will endorse their applications and confirm their readiness for the role.

When successful, the Y6 monitors are presented with a contract of expectations that they must adhere to. This contract outlines our expectation of them, e.g. they demonstrate exemplary behaviour and are role models for all children.

The monitors are timetabled to fulfil their roles throughout the school day and are line managed by members of staff and supported by their class teachers and their peers.

Our Y6 monitors support us in the day to day running of the school and their contribution to our school is highly valued by the Broadfield Team.
